Cutting the grass is one of those chores that homeowners either love to hate or rush home after a busy day to relax while cutting horizontal lines into the lawn. There is a certain pride that comes with having a fresh cut lawn, trimmed edges and a nicely manicured yard. It looks good and smells even better and it motivates every surrounding neighbour to step up and
primp their yard. Some people live in areas that require bi-weekly grass cutting and others can put their lawnmowers away for a good part of the year.

At the beginning of each cutting season be sure to drain old gasoline and refill with some fresh( and now more expensive)fuel. Be sure to service your lawnmower regularly with a fresh oil change, also replacing or cleaning lawnmower parts like air filter and spark plugs. Lawnmower blades usually need to be removed and sharpened on a yearly basis. By inspecting
your lawnmower blade regularly, particularly after running over stones or stumps, you will be able to determine when blade sharpening should occur. This inspection will also help notice if your blades are loose, sometimes a result of lawnmower blades that have been damaged. It is also a good idea to inspect the lawn itself for debris and stones and take note of obstacles and stumps.

It has been recorded that stones can be thrown from a lawnmower at approximately 200 miles per hour.

Another good lawnmower part to check over is the lawnmower wheels. Due to the continuous stress from pivoting around the rear wheels on every turn the lawnmower tires are prone to cracking and often become loose. Kmart lawnmower wheels are available at the department store near you and have a wide selection for most models sizes. See manufacturers like Craftsman, Toro, Snapper, Honda, and Murray for lawnmower parts specific to the make of your lawnmower.
